Transitioning from snowy bare tree branches to shades of green.  Hard to picture those leaves, but I know they are coming soon.  I'm ready - bring on the green.

Finished with just the paint left on my palette- the same way I started.

Feeling great about the Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days - okay, I think I missed two days.

Now I'm going to turn these little studies into 30x30s.

I love sunshine peeking through the gray clouds - like a promise.

Lots of scratching on this one - may require some sanding when dry.

But 60 degrees and sunny in January - why I love the South.

Day 25 - Morning Through the Trees

This is what greeted me after a week of rain - golden sunlight filtered through the forest in my back yard.

Stunning and hopeful.

Love it when a painting comes together like this one did - and it was fun!

Day 23 - Back At the Easel

Really sick dog - Addison's Disease - treatable yeah! Demanding a lot of my time right now - but very thankful to have him with us.

Jumped into globs of paint left on my palette and created this today.  Lots of texture and showing more energy than I (and the sweet dog) possess.  Felt good to paint.  Dog made it to the studio!

Starting with a fresh palette tomorrow - see what happens after a good night's sleep.



Day 21 - Sick Puppy Means No Art

This is what (WHO) I really worked on all day - The Dude.



He is one sick puppy - spent hours at the vet this morning.  Then returned at 5pm and just admitted to the Vet for overnight antibiotics and fluids.  Pray for my sweet puppy.  So hence, the painting above was my quick 30 minutes in the studio.  Gotta love acrylics for that reason.

Hope to get my studio buddy back tomorrow - then the world will be all right again.

Sunshine does improve my mood.  Love the beach in winter.  May need to rework my dune in the forground with some shadows but like my reeds blowing in the wind.

Could not stand the gray day - undertoned this canvas in bright pink - may be too much.

But at least it's cheery.

May need some touch up on this one - but it was nice to paint reality today.

'Are you feeling hot.hot.hot?' - Two day of sun and 70 degrees make me happy.

Three days of rain on the way.  May make me paint blue.

Winter in the South does not mean snow - today it means 70 degrees.

So a winter landscape is evergreens and brown trees - no snow.

North Carolina is a great place to live!

Day 8 - I see a barn...

I was working on a traditional barn on an larger canvas.  Decided to abstract it on a 6x6 gallery wrapped.

Quite pleased with the result.

Getting me into the studio every day - great discipline.

Love the red undertone and how if the red wasn't peeping through - the horizon line would be invisible.

So, today I had to get my oil changed - and the lobby had all these old Coastal Living magazines - page after page of beaches around the world - so I'm thinking island living for the next few paintings...

So my idea of only using the paint left on my palette may not work in the long run. 
But for Day 3 it made this little piece interesting.

But on to more important things...the thirty day challenge - and as I always say "She who has the most new supplies...wins".  I'm stocked up!  Thank you Binders and ASWExpress.



Day 2 - Just Abstracts

Day 2 - I've decided to go ABSTRACT - for me that means - not trying to 'figure out' what every thing is in a painting.  Loosing up.  A step away from realism and life.  I'm going to use the colors on my palatte from my current paintings.  One of my first paintings I did at Braitman studio was of a buffalo we saw in Yellowstone (big - 24 x 30) - it was ambitious.  So I brought it home and my great husband said "Nice clouds"....I said "They're mountains".   So I'm going abstract for my daily challenge.  It's a landscape -- you can decide whether it's a cloud or a mountain...or just say "nice painting".
